Leaving Oregon for China
We have had a wonderful time visiting in Oregon. Tomorrow we will be catching a 2:10pm flight bound for Beijing, China. The bags are now repacked with a few new extras (Mary and I got new shoes and the boys and Fred got a few new clothes). We have eaten wonderful food and you know, the sun shines here after it rains.

A Few Days in Oregon
So we have a few days in Oregon before we leave for China. Yesterday we drove from Oregon City to Eugene to visit our adoption agency, Holt International. We have spent so much time talking with everyone there on the phone, we wanted to finally put faces with the voices we are so familiar with.
On our way to Eugene, we decided that Quade's cast was in need of some repair, the immobilized fingers (pinkie and ring finger) were moving quite a bit so we found an Urgent Care in Eugene and they strengthened that section. The cast is not as pretty as it was before but it is stronger. For those that don't know Quade broke his 5th metacarpal (boxers break), however he is the light weight champion now. While Quade was getting his cast fixed, Fred had his yearly pedicure.Quade wanted Taco Bell for lunch so after our visit at Holt we found lunch.
Quade also needed a haircut, so we found a Supercuts and took care of that. Did I mention that the night before we left Juneau Quade announced he only had one pair of shorts. So we also did a little shopping for Quade. He is picky about his clothes. We ended our long day with BBQ at Famous Dave's. Although Fred had never heard of him, so he doesn't think he is that famous. While Aunt Mary on the other hand nearly jumped out of her seat when she heard that was where we were eating.
We have a few more days in the Portland area to visit with Fred's family and take care of our last minute tasks before we leave for China on June 6th. We will arrive in Beijing on June 7th via Tokyo.
The plane ride from Juneau to Seattle was action packed, Zane and Quade were teaching Aunt Mary how to play Munchkin. They were all disappointed that we got to Seattle so quickly.

The time to leave for China is drawing near
After 15 months the time to leave for China is drawing near. We leave for Portland on Thursday to spend some time with family before continuing on to China. We will depart from Portland on the 6th for Beijing.
Last week Dayna and the boys were in Skagway for the end of the year class trip, "The Odyssey". This was the last big project for Dayna before the end of the school year. She has been very busy this last month and a half with the class play and preparing for the Odyssey. Only 2 more days left of school. She is ready for a well deserved break.
This week while only 3 days long will be hectic to say the least. Tomorrow Dayna has to go get her Hep A and Polio booster at 7:45 a.m. She will have a busy morning preparing for the passage ceremony that will be held at 1 p.m. Zane will be moving on from Montessori and on to 9th grade and Quade will be taking his place as an 8th grader in her class. After the passage ceremony I will take the boys to their Doctor to get a booster for the trip. Dayna will be traveling to the chiropractor and Mary and I will meet her at the bank after she is done. We will be getting crisp $100.00 bills and travelers checks. At some point I will hopefully be taking Quade to the Bone and Joint clinic to have his hand looked at. He had a mishap while in Skagway and broke his hand. We should have a blog just for all the side stories.
Wednesday and Thursday look much the same with my booster shots on Wednesday and then on Thursday dentist appointments for the boys and a visit to the orthodontist for Zane. Then we are off to Oregon at 3:30.
We have been purchasing things for the trip for months now. Stuff like allergy medicine, band aids, cold medicine etc.... We have a small Pharmacy. Even with all the preparation and planning we have made numerous trips to the store for new shorts and last minute things. The weekend was busy just going in circles. Everything from packing and doing laundry and looking for my I-Pod to making sure we have all the gifts for the right people when we get to China.
Dayna was able to get our VPN up and running for the trip this weekend as well. This will enable us to be able to post while in China and be able to go around the "Great Fire Wall of China". I am glad she is so tech savvy, if not for her we would be sunk. I had a fight with my phone today tying to download a ring tone. Needless to say I still have the stock ring tone.
I am glad we are so busy as it is getting hard for me to wait. I think we are all ready to be done and headed off to get Na Hui. I can hardly wait to see her with my own eyes and hold her in my arms. I had a realization the other day about Na Hui. While we have only been matched with her since December of 2011, she has always been our daughter. Since that day the waiting has been even more painful. Come on June 11th.

Waiting for Departure
So I think we have purchased everything we need to be ready
to go to China. The international tickets, the in-country stuff (hotels,
airfare, tours, guides, train tickets to Hong Kong), and all of the clothes and
stuff we are taking for NaHui have been purchased. The new summer clothes the
boys needed have been purchased. Basically we are ready, just waiting for the
school year to be over. The class play was last Thursday and Friday, and it was
great. We did Hamlet Thrill-Ma-Geddon (a parody on Hamlet). Zane was Claudius
and Quade was Bernardo. Now we just need to go to the community garden, plant
stuff for next fall and go to Skagway the following week. All these things are
with my class which makes a great but busy end to the school year. I guess it
helps make the time fly by and that is good, but sometimes I wish I didn’t have
to organize it all. Not to say I am doing it all by myself, Debbie and Alison
have been a big part of the planning.
We still have Candied Jalapenos for sales if you have gotten
yours yet. They are really wonderful. Just email if you are interested.
I want to take a book to read to NaHui at bed time but I
just can’t decide what to take. I don’t have any experience with little girl
books yet and I don’t want to take to many books since I have plans of buying a
lot of stuff in China. Luggage weight limits and all. So if anyone out there
with girls has a suggestion for the perfect book to take as a bedtime story for
a little girl that does not understand the language, please let me know. What
is your favorite little girl book?
Leaving Juneau May 31st. Can’t wait to be on our way and one step
closer to our little girl.
